Grapefruit G&T.

I love having friends over for drinks, I love to play host and make people feel welcome.

But like most people today, I’m time poor.

Over the weekend I made grapefruit G&T’s, the perfect thirst quencher with its slightly dry character and aromatic herbal flavour. And yes you guessed it, the recipe was really easy, as ever, it’s the little details that make the difference.

Ingredients:

– 100 ml Adnams Gin (we used their Rising Sun, it’s infused with matcha tea, lemongrass as well as a special blend of botanicals to create a really refreshing gin, perfect for the spring)
– Two grapefruits (pink works equally as well)
– Tonic water
– Fresh Rosemary (collected from my mother in law’s garden)
– Ice (lots of it)

Method:

I’m not a mixologist, so I genuinely don’t believe there’s a right or wrong way to make G&T, only lots of opportunities to experiment! I combined the gin, grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed if possible but juice is great if you’re low on time) into a shaker filled with ice.

Shake until chilled. Pour into a chilled glass and top with tonic water (to taste). Add a couple of chunky wedges of the grapefruit to each glass as well as a sprig of Rosemary for the nose as much as the eye!

I made more of the cocktail which I kept chilled in a jug (given how quickly they were disappearing!)

I served into a champagne coupes/saucers, I just love the delacacy of the glass and think it adds a bit more drama to the event.
