Laid-back Lisbon, a foodie’s paradise.

I certainly don’t make any attempt to hide how much I love Portugal. It’s a great country. As a family, we’ve stayed in a city and at the coast and loved them both. If I had to put my finger on exactly what it is I love, it's how laid-back life is. The Portuguese are warm, friendly and relaxed. They also happen to have a vibrant and exciting food scene…

Casa La Siesta – Andalusia.

Our first family visit to Spain was when Stanley was just two years old and we stayed in the north. We loved the food, weather, beaches and how welcoming the locals were to us as a family. For an Easter break, we decided to explore a new region, this time Andalusia in the south. I’d seen a feature in Cereal Magazine on Vejer de la Frontera and the town looked beautiful...

Mood enhancers – light and sound.

We’d coveted our apartment for several years before it came on the market and we finally had the chance to buy it. We fell in love with the light. Our apartment is one of seven penthouses in a converted factory – our space, specifically, was the drawing rooms.

Escape to the country.

I love my city. I love walking around it, bumping into my friends, enjoying good coffee and being busy. But, every now and then, an escape to the country to recharge and reconnect is, quite literally, a breath of fresh air.

My muse.

It’s fair to say that becoming a mother has been a life-changing experience and I don’t just mean in the obvious ways. Stanley soon became my muse – I’d spend hours photographing him and documenting his life. It’s really where my passion for photography started.

8 cities in 8 months – York & Wakefield.

The second city in our '8 cities in 8 months' tour was York. I’d heard York was similar in size and architecture to our home, Norwich. However, the reason we chose York was for their highly regarded Christmas market and festivities. We thought it would be a magical place to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary and get us in to the Christmas spirit.

Latitude – a family festival.

Before Stanley was born we camped at Latitude in 2010 and 2012. My memories are of total excess, partying into the early hours and waking up after lunch. So when we returned this weekend it was, of course, a little different. This time, as a family, we were ready to see the other side of Latitude and give Stanley a taste for festival life...

Elegance on two wheels.

Two years ago we visited Copenhagen for the first time, and, 6 months ago we explored Denmark’s second city (and this year’s city of culture) Aarhus. It is fair to say that these two Danish cities had a profound effect on me and in particular changed my view of the humble push bike.

The Big A Tee (Nor-Folk x Adnams).

Fiona and I were cuddled up on the sofa – it was a Friday night – we were likely enjoying a fruit cider and watching a dark Nordic crime thriller. Anyway, the details don’t really matter – the best bit was that my phone lit up with a DM on Instagram. ‘A lady called Liz from Adnams’ I said – ‘she wants to chat about a collaborative project’.

Global Entrepreneurship Week, 16th November.

On Wednesday 16 November, our co-founder, Bobby Burrage, will be speaking about how we created Nor–Folk – taking it from an idea to a global business. Bobby will be sharing stories of our journey so far and plans for the future. This event is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, in collaboration with Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library.
